We had a good night sleep last night in Belgium and we wondered which country we might go to today....by accident. Maybe Luxembourg? The sat nav tried to continue to persuade us to go east but I soon switched it off and we used an old fashioned road atlas. Janice drove the first half and I navigated using the 2016 AA France Road Atlas that is completely falling to bits, each page is a loose leaf. We learned a little lesson from yesterday and we chose to use a toll motorway around Reims.
We called in at a town called Vitry-la-Francois after lunch and had a walk around.
It had a very large church but there was a funeral taking place so we didn’t see the inside.
The square was vast too. What a nice day it’s been....constant sun and around 20+ degrees. We decided that we had driven far enough and looked for a place to stay. We found our spot on the edge of the Lac de Der, near Saint Dizier. It is about 44 km all round but we only cycled around part of it....we are saving ourselves for later exertions. They must have had a dry spell as the lake was well down and the grass is parched. We are totally wild camping tonight on the edge of the lake and enjoying the evening sunshine. We forced down a couple of G&Ts before our evening meal. That is our Friday ritual.
That’s Janice racing off in the distance.
